In November 1965 a delegation from Château-Gontier led by the Mayor and some town councillors visited Murrhardt where they were warmly received and from 1966 trips and school exchanges have occurred.
On September 24th 1966 in Château-Gontier, the two Mayors at the time, Dr.Georges Lefèvre and Herr Helmut Götz, signed the twinning agreement between the two towns.
On September 9th 1967 the formal twinning ceremony took place in front of the Town Hall in Murrhardt before a large crowd of people.
On June 7th 1975 a delegation from Frome came to Château-Gontier led by Peter Bardgett, Mayor and Chairman of the Twinning Association. The twinning ceremony took place on the square in front of the Présidial attended by nearly two hundred residents. The square saying " Square de Frome " was inaugurated alongside the Quai d'Alsace.
The twinning was formally sealed in September 1975 with a trip to Frome by a group from Château-Gontier headed by the Mayor and District President , Jean Arthuis.
In September 1979, Chateau-Gontier suggested that Frome establishes a twinning with Murrhardt. In November, a public meeting was then
organized by the City Council of Frome.
In April,1980 Mayor Jim Eames invited the parties interested in a preparatory meeting, to create a committee and establish a regulation.
In 1981, a group of 100 boy scouts was present to Murrhardt and in 1982, the mayor of Murrhardt, Helmut Götz and his wife Mina moved to Frome for the "Cheese show".
In November, 1982, the city gave its agreement for the Twinning.
The first charter was signed on September 24th, 1983 for Frome in front of the square of the church St-John by Mayor Bob Gooding and for Murrhardt by mayor Helmut Götz.
This charter was then ratified on July 7th, 1984 by Mayor Ken Secker.
On September 21st 1985 in Frome, the three towns agreed a tripartite link.. The official signing of this multilateral agreement was done by the Mayors, Jean Arthuis, Peter Belham and Helmut Götz
In July 2009 the twinning betwenn the three towns will be joined by the Polish town of Rabka-Zdrój, situated south of Krakow in Little Poland.
The charter of the Twinning was signed on Friday, July 17th for Rabka-Zdrój by four mayors:
